According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of a potential summer move, and Spurs fans have been quick to react to the rumour.
A Bola says that the north London outfit, who are also reportedly keen on another midfielder in Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure, want to be near the front of the queue for the 23-year-old, who has a release clause of €100m (£88m) but would go for less than that, if Sporting choose to sell him having only signed him from Sampdoria on a five-year contract last summer.
The versatile Portugal international has certainly been in impressive form for his club this season after scoring 13 goals and providing a further 16 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, while he has shown his versatility by playing in central and attacking midfield roles, and even as a secondary striker on occasions.
Tottenham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one described him as the “perfect replacement for Mousa Dembele”, another said “he’s more attacking like Lanzini at West Ham”.
